ELIXA Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

THERAPEUTIC MEDICAL GRADE OXYGEN

Our Infinity Oxygen Pod is the most advanced and contemporary solution for oxygen therapy available on the market. With easy walk-in access and comfortable sitting, it is designed for efficiency and comfort.

POTENTIAL BENEFITS OF OXYGEN THERAPY

  • Improves cognitive function and brain health
  • Promotes collagen production to reduce wrinkles
  • Enhance physical performance and faster recovery
  • Cellular rejuvenation boosts stem cells for tissue repair

Under normal conditions, the air we breathe contains a mixture of gases, of which about 21% is oxygen. During HBOT (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy), a patient breathes 100% pure, medical grade oxygen. They do this while relaxing in a specially designed,
pressurised chamber. Our Hyperbaric Oxygen Pod provides pure oxygen at 2 times the normal atmospheric pressure.

How it Works

Normally, the oxygen we breathe is delivered to tissues and organs by red blood cells. During HBOT, the pressurised environment allows the oxygen to be dissolved directly into the blood plasma – a liquid component of blood that transports proteins, hormones and nutrients. Plasma accounts for more than half of the body’s total blood volume. The plasma carries pure oxygen deep into the body’s tissues, including the lymphatic system and the cerebrospinal fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord. This results in a much higher concentration of oxygen within the body – up to 1,000% higher or more than is usual. In people with certain medical conditions, this delivery of highly concentrated oxygen via the plasma can be therapeutic and boost the body’s natural ability to heal.

The Anti-Ageing Benefits of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy: An Evidence-Based Review

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) has garnered attention not only for its well-established medical uses, such as treating decompression sickness and non-healing wounds, but also for its potential anti-ageing benefits. Recent scientific research and publications have provided compelling evidence that HBOT can significantly impact the ageing process, offering a novel approach to longevity and vitality.

Understanding Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

HBOT involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurised chamber, typically at 1.5 to 3 times the normal atmospheric pressure. This process significantly increases the amount of oxygen dissolved in the blood, enhancing oxygen delivery to tissues throughout the body. The elevated oxygen levels can facilitate various physiological processes, including promoting cellular repair, reducing inflammation, and combating oxidative stress.

Cellular Rejuvenation and DNA Repair

One of the fundamental ways HBOT can contribute to anti-ageing is through cellular rejuvenation and DNA repair. Studies have demonstrated that increased oxygen availability can enhance the activity of fibroblasts and stem cells, which are critical for tissue regeneration and repair. A groundbreaking study published in Ageing in 2020 highlighted that HBOT induced telomere elongation and reduced senescent cell populations in healthy ageing adults. Telomeres, the protective caps at the ends of chromosomes, naturally shorten with age, leading to cellular ageing and dysfunction. By extending telomere length, HBOT appears to counteract this aspect of cellular ageing.

Enhanced Cognitive Function

Cognitive decline is a significant concern as people age. Emerging evidence suggests that HBOT may help preserve and even enhance cognitive function. Research published in Neurobiology of Ageing reported that HBOT improved cognitive performance in elderly patients by increasing cerebral blood flow and reducing brain inflammation. These effects are crucial for maintaining brain health and preventing neurodegenerative diseases
such as Alzheimer’s .

Reduction of Oxidative Stress and Inflammation

Chronic inflammation and oxidative stress are key contributors to the ageing process and age-related diseases. HBOT has been shown to exert potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. A study in
Redox Biology highlighted that HBOT reduced markers of oxidative stress and inflammation in ageing rats, suggesting similar benefits could be translated to humans. The therapy’s ability to modulate the immune response and enhance antioxidant defences is critical for mitigating the detrimental effects of ageing at the cellular level.

Improved Skin Health and Appearance

The skin is often the most visible marker of ageing. HBOT’s benefits extend to enhancing skin health and appearance by promoting collagen synthesis, improving skin elasticity, and accelerating wound healing. Clinical observations and trials have reported that individuals undergoing HBOT experience fewer wrinkles, better hydration, and an overall more youthful skin appearance. This is primarily due to improved blood flow and oxygenation to the skin, which supports its structural integrity and repair processes.

Enhanced Physical Performance and Recovery

Age-related decline in physical performance and slower recovery from injuries can significantly impact quality of life. HBOT has been found to enhance muscle regeneration, reduce muscle atrophy, and improve overall physical performance. Research published in Frontiers in Physiology demonstrated that HBOT facilitated faster recovery in athletes and elderly individuals by reducing muscle damage and inflammation, thereby promoting quicker healing and better physical outcomes.

Conclusion

The potential of hyperbaric oxygen therapy as an anti-ageing intervention is supported by a growing body of scientific evidence. Its ability to promote cellular repair, reduce inflammation, enhance cognitive function, improve skin health, and accelerate physical recovery positions HBOT as a promising strategy in the quest for longevity and improved quality of life. As research continues to unfold, HBOT may become a cornerstone of anti-ageing therapies, offering hope for a healthier and more vibrant ageing process.
